I have an abstract here. Every one was a democrat who was arrested as far as I know. although one man I see swears according to the abstract that he was naturalized in 1868. and was a republican. His arrest was a mistake. But I do not want to go into that. I am trying to argue and not to charge harsh things. and not to arouse party feelings. but to appeal to all Americans who love liberty aud wish to be protected by law and not be trodden down by arbitrary power. that we shall get rid of this scheme which with either party in power must give a power over the electors that is unjust unwise. and tltimately will lead to the destruction of our form 01 government.
