I only wish to make a single remark in regard to the resolution. Recent events have demonstrated that in the very near future some legislation will be necessary in regard to the Indian Territory. At present that Territory stands like a hugo rock in the middle of the current of civilization and emigration to the Southwest. I have no disposition to forestall what may be the judgment and action of Congress in regard to this very important matter. I simply wish to say now that. in obedience to the instructions of my State Legislature and in obedience to my own opinions.
