Men who had voted for years upon naturalization papers. the validity of which had never been questioned. on presenting themselves at the polls were taken into custody and hurried off to jail by this petty tyrant and his subalterns. Thousands of others were deterred from offering to vote. to the great gain of the republican party. The same is alleged to have been the State of things in the city of Cincinnati and at other points.
