Mr. President. on the 27th day of February. 1877. the Senator from California. submitted the report of the joint committee of the two Houses of Congress on Chinese immigration to the Senate. which was ordered to be printed with the testimony taken by the committee in San Francisco in the months of October and November. 1676. On that day the following remarks were made by the late Senator from Indiana: Mr. MoRToN. Mr. President. while I agree inreat part with what is contained in the very able report of the Senator from Caliernia. yet I do not altogether concur in the views which have been taken in regard to the evidence. and I desire to present my views upon the subject.
