Speech #440083873

This road has obtained these lands. they toe worth today from $2.50 to $20 an acre. let the company be compelled to hold them suljcct as the other branches of the road are to preemption at$i1.25 an acre. If this road is reallya branch of the Union Pacific Railroad Company. with all the rights and immunities of that road. I wish to pit in this provision in the interest of the people of Nebraska and in the interest of immigrati on. Again it will be noticed that this bill provides that the Burlingtoi and Missouri River Railroad Company shall prorate over the Union Pacific Railroad Company from Fort Kearny to Cheyenne. Now the original proposition was to give the prorate to the eastern line of the State of California.
