Mr. Speaker. what I think very few members of this House cas say. that I have never been absent from a sitting of this House. that I have never been absent from a vote of this House. that I have never bee absent from any business of this House since I was first a member of it. I came here with a constitution that I did not believe could be shaken by anything. but I find bore an atmosphere worse than that of the cattleyards in Iowa. worse than that of any emigrantship that ever crossed the Atlantic. and I find that I cannot stand it and stay in the House as regularly as I havelreviously. For the first time since I have been a member of the House I am compelled to go out every day while some friend is making a long speech. and I am blessing him while out. for the tirst time I ever prayed for logwinded friends. for making the long speech. so that I can get fresh air. If we are to do business in this box without any improvement in the system of ventilation. gentlemen muptdivide themselves into relief parties who will sit here and inhale death in tiro and alternately oout for fresh air.
