Their labor embraces nearly till the local industries of tho city. White mechanics in sereh of employment are met by Mongolians who are willimg to work for prices which will not support the white man. Many of them engage in sitall manufactures of their own o a setle which wuuld shami a white laborer. and by tneaus of which articles are afforded at prices so greatly reduced as to defy competition by white labor. Hundreds of them are employed as house servatnts. because their services can be obttined at onehalf that of a white woman.
